Kingston Joseph Farady

Name: Kingston Joseph Farady, Oakland, CA

  • Bay Area Since 2002
  • Investigator for the Alameda County PD, Actor, Writer, Activist

Notes: I’ve known Kingston Joseph Farady since 2002, but I only became of aware of his acting work when he appeared in a trailer for Cheryl Dunye’s 2014 film, the award-winning Black is BlueI was fortunate enough to be able to interview Kingston during the summer of 2017, just a few weeks before he relocated to the New Haven, Connecticut. There he will continue to pursue acting on stage and screen. For Kingston, the move to New England brings his journey full circle, returning him to the region he left 15 years before, to attend Mills College. Over his decade and a half in the Bay Area, Kingston established himself as a leader and organizer in the area’s QTPOC community, organizing entertainment, parties, and performances by and for queer and trans people of color. Farady’s move to northeast presents both opportunities and challenges, as he leaves the certainty of the life he built here for the promise of opportunity and creative growth offered by his new proximity to the vibrant performing arts community of New York, NY.
